Green Building – Lifestyle Architecture

A_MA WPM V Architecture and Environment
Sustainability and quality of life belong nowadays to the main goals of worldwide development. At least 10 from 15 Sustainable Development Goals from United Nations are about improving the people´s quality of life. Architectural quality is as well very important feature of sustainable building. In case it is missing, people don´t feel connected to the building and don´t accept it. However, the goals connected to the quality of life and architectural quality find little consideration in certification systems of sustainable building.

Only energy efficient architecture is not enough today. Strategies of sufficiency and consistency are more and more important in order to design sustainable architecture. The part of the course is to analyse the 3 strategies of sustainability (efficiency, consistency and sufficiency) in chosen examples of sustainable architecture and apply them in own design process. Goal is to create an architectural concept, which motivates people to healthier and more sustainable lifestyle. In groups, we will work together on concept for real building project in campus Bremerskamp in Kiel. The lectures will be divided into two parts: starting with teacher´s presentation to the related topic, following with the group´s discussion about developing building concepts.
